WHAT is Triad? Triad is a partnership of law enforcement, mature citizens and those providing services to seniors. Triad's goal is to reduce the criminal victimization of older persons. Triad provides an opportunity to exchange information among the partners and to reduce unwarranted fear of crime while improving the safety and quality of life for seniors.

WHY Triad? Our county's elder population is growing rapidly. In fact, The state of North Carolina is aging dramatically. Increased life expectancy may lead to new challenge issues for law enforcement, social services, and communities experiencing an increase in the number of older persons, some of whom are vulnerable individuals.

WHAT can Triad DO? An active partnership can address the needs and concerns of a community. Most Triads conduct educational outreach to inform seniors of fraud, scams, victimization, and abuse. Reassurance programs accompany the opportunity for seniors to meet law enforcement and social services representatives who can assist them. Some Triads are involved in medication collections, emergency preparedness, and other programs needed in their specific area.

WHo participates in a Triad partnership? Those who are interested in fostering the safety and wellbeing of those who are aging are welcome to become involved in the planning strategies and programs. The leadership group called S.A.L. Y (Seniors and Law enforcement Together) coordinates the plans and activities with the guidance of all who participate.

WHAT results? Once those involved begging to cooperate and face elder issues collaboratively, the difficult issues of elder exploitation and abuse can be addressed. Individuals and agencies are able to connect and share tasks and opportunities. Trust levels increase, and seniors feel safer. And seniors have the opportunity to participate in the process and contribute to the success.

WHERE is Triad? Triad partnerships are active nationwide. Triad can be helpful in each county.

-Safety and wellbeing of older adults.
_Strengthen relationships between law enforcement and older persons.
-Assessment of needs and concerns of older persons and law enforcement in regard to dealing with elderly.
-Validate concerns.
