Provider’s Statement of Service(s):
WE provide support for Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Blind (D/HH/DB) individuals to make sure they have full access to their communication needs. We have an Equipment Distribution Program (based on income) that will provide one free hearing aid or one free Captioned Telephone. We also have signaling alert devices to help one know if the telephone is ringing, or someone is at the doorbell or a flashing alarm click to wake up. We have many resources and information to help those who are D/HH/DB.
WE also help advocate for those D/HH/DB individuals who may be discriminated and denied their access to communication needs. We also work to educate and train public and private entities to make sure they know how to communicate and serve people who ate D/HH/DB. This includes doctor offices, lawyers, hospitals, employers and other such facilities.
We also have information for individuals and their families to learn ways to live with hearing loss and to be independent.
Our services are free and available to any NC individual who is Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Deaf Blind (D/HH/DB). Our educational and training resources for entities are also free and open to anyone.
